Tramontana is a prototyping toolkit designed for iOS devices, leveraging the ubiquitous presence of smartphones to facilitate interactive development. It provides libraries compatible with Processing, JavaScript, and OpenFrameworks, enabling users to access various inputs and outputs of one or multiple smartphones to rapidly prototype interactive environments, connected products, or wireless applications.

The toolkit requires the use of open-source libraries corresponding to Processing, JavaScript, or OpenFrameworks to fully utilize its functionalities with your device.

It allows the device to function as an actuator, enabling remote triggering of features such as:

• flashlight
• vibration
• screen brightness and color adjustments
• media playback including video, audio, and images

Additionally, Tramontana supports sensor readings from the device, including:

• orientation
• magnetometer
• accelerometer
• distance sensor
• audio jack input
• power source variations
• touch events

The toolkit also enables remote activation of the camera and uploading images directly to Dropbox. Recent updates integrate Tramontana with Wekinator, allowing users to incorporate touch or accelerometer data from their devices into machine learning workflows.
